Rising Stars
Purpose of the Initiative
Rising Star is a flagship program of Women’s Rise, designed to identify, mentor, and promote high-potential women entrepreneurs and innovators across developing and emerging markets.
Each national edition celebrates women whose projects demonstrate measurable impact in their communities and alignment with national development priorities.
The program builds directly on the findings of the WRIndex (Women’s Rise & Influence Index), transforming research into action by supporting the next generation of women leaders.
National Implementation Framework
The initiative is rolled out in partnership with national associations and institutional partners (NGOs, women’s chambers, foundations).
Each edition includes:
- A nationwide call for applications, disseminated through regional and local networks;
- A selection of finalists representing the country’s diversity of regions and sectors;
- A national jury composed of representatives from Women’s Rise, key ministries, private-sector sponsors, and development partners;
- A mentorship program led by strategic experts to scale up the winner’s business.
Selection Criteria
- Formal or semi-formal enterprise with at least two years of activity;
- Alignment with national economic or social development priorities;
- Proven potential for growth and innovation;
- Clear business or social impact model;
- Leadership, resilience, and community engagement of the founder.
